Quantech Solutions design and run participatory workshops. Participatory workshops involve people within a company or a community of stakeholders and allow them to participate in the decision process. Within agriculture we have had a long interest in the agricultural development work of Robert Chambers and have visited and participated in a number of development projects using participatory methods in Peru, Kyrgystan and Namibia.
Recently we have undertaken participatory workshops within expert groups, supply chains and in an RDPE funded project with many stakeholders ranging from farmers, contract farmers, feed manufacturers, breeding companies, pharmaceutical companies and other interested groups such as banks, accountants and land agents.
Participatory projects take longer than other forms of decision making, however involving a much broader group may achieve more sustainable decisions and outcomes.
Please call to discuss using participatory methods in group situations both within firms or across supply chains.
Comments from a recent participatory meeting:
“Bloody well done today: • Content spot on • Delivery excellent • Mixing the stuff up was a masterpiece • But masterfully all pulled together • Producer participation excellent • Timing impeccable”
“What you actually achieved was engagement not seen on that scale or with that degree of enthusiasm for many years.”
