I was delighted to participate in Innovate UK’s Global Expert Mission to Australia and to attend the first Evoke AG conference.
The aim of the Mission was to explore collaborative research funding possibilities between the UK and Australia.
Evoke AG, https://evokeag.com/ was held in the stunning Royal Exhibition Building in Melbourne. It was a tremendous spacious location for large plenary sessions and massive screens for excellent viewing. Breakout session were held around the balcony, whilst the ground floor hosted supporters, exhibitors and partners, on-tap coffee and frequent food fill ups.
The substance of the conference: Australia’s place in Agri-tech and start-ups was superbly covered by all the speakers and breakout sessions. USA and Israeli VC’s and the ecosystems of support and accelerators and their connection with Australia was significant.
The Future Young Leaders programme identified 10 emerging thought-leaders within agriculture to attend evokeAG. on 19-20 February 2019 in Melbourne. The successful applicant presented their key passion and/or research relating to one of the event themes – food, farm or future – to the international audience.
Networking was extremely well facilitated via the Evoke app with the ‘Braindate’ and ‘Business to Business’ space for people to talk with each other before and during the event.

After Evoke the Mission met with many Rural Development Corporations (Levy boards) who were impressive in their commercial focus. We also met with a number of universities and Government departments.
Evoke was a superb event and the organisers should be thoroughly congratulated. It was an event to be at. It was a demonstration of ‘how to do an event’ that will be iconic.
