Health mapping initiatives - benefits for animal breeders
The BPEX Health Initiative (www.pighealth.org.uk) is the focus of producer collaboration to improve health, but also provide a number of user-friendly tools and mapping capability through Google maps.
Initiatives have been completed or started in Yorkshire and Humberside, East Anglia and the East Midlands region. Recently the rest of England has been included.
The online tools include cost calculators, calculators for de-stocking programmes, a biosecurity tool, a tool for management of a de-stocking.
Live mapping of units and information about health status are also online.
